The Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has underscored his dedication to grassroots development and ensuring food security through the initiation of road construction projects aimed at enhancing access to farms.

During the project launch and groundbreaking ceremony of the 15.5km Oda Cocoa Board – Camp 2 – Langbodo Road in Oda town, Akure South local government area, Governor Aiyedatiwa reiterated his administration’s commitment to bolstering rural infrastructure.

The first phase of the project encompasses areas across the state’s three senatorial districts: Oda – Cocoa Board – Langbodo in Akure South LG (Central), Ode – Omi – Ebute Iyara in Irele LGA (South), and Ifira Akoko – Afo in Akoko South East LG (North). Construction activities are set to commence simultaneously in these locations.

Governor Aiyedatiwa disclosed plans for the subsequent phase, with road contracts slated for awarding in the first quarter of the year, extending across numerous LGAs in the state.

Emphasizing stakeholder involvement, Governor Aiyedatiwa urged vigilance in ensuring contractors adhere to quality standards, emphasizing the long-overdue necessity of upgrading the dilapidated roads to meet expected standards.

Acknowledging the contractors’ efforts, the Governor expressed optimism for timely project completion.

Funding for the project, as highlighted by the State Project Coordinator of the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAMP), Mr. Femi Adetanmi, includes contributions from the World Bank, French Development Agency, and the Ondo State Government.

Adetanmi emphasized the transformative impact of the completed road networks, facilitating seamless transportation of farm produce from rural to urban areas, thus mitigating food scarcity challenges.

Furthermore, Mr. Wole Akinkuotu, Administrative Secretary of the Directorate of Rural & Community Development and Chairman of the State Project Monitoring Committee of RAAMP, reiterated the administration’s commitment to participating in RAAMP, aligning with Governor Aiyedatiwa’s proactive stance in enhancing rural accessibility.

Dignitaries present at the event included Deputy Governor Chief Olayide Adelami, Secretary to the State Government Hon. Tayo Oluwatuyi, Chief of Staff to Governor Aiyedatiwa Prince Segun Omojuwa, and traditional rulers.
