A Lagos State Magistrate’s Court sitting at Igbosere on Monday ordered the playback of audio recordings tendered as evidence in the trial of TikToker Yusuf Olamilekan, who is accused of posting nude photographs of Fatai Idowu Adebanwo on social media and threatening his life.

Magistrate Kemi Awoyinka directed that recordings contained in two flash drives be played in open court, asking both parties to identify the portions they intended to rely on during the trial.

The court adjourned the case until November 23, 2026, after the prosecution requested time to arrange an official interpreter to translate Yoruba portions of the recordings into English.

At the resumed hearing on October 19, prosecuting counsel Adewale Sodiq told the court that the defence had confirmed receipt of a flash drive containing evidence at the previous sitting.

The prosecution also confirmed that the material received by the defence was the same recording played during an earlier hearing.

Adebanwo, the nominal complainant, testified virtually, while two other witnesses were present in court.

After reminding the witness of his earlier oath, Sodiq asked him to confirm that he had previously told the court that he handed over an audio recording of the defendant’s social media broadcast to the police. The witness confirmed this.

The recording was subsequently played in court. However, when the Yoruba portions were reached, Awoyinka directed that they be translated into English, the language of the court.

The prosecutor then sought an adjournment to arrange for an official interpreter.

Before adjourning the case, the magistrate suggested that the recordings be played in full to enable the defendant to identify the portions he intended to rely on in his defence.

During earlier testimony, Adebanwo told the court that he reported the alleged conduct to the police at Alagbon and Zone 2, where he submitted a petition and provided evidence stored on his phone.

He said the police instructed him to transfer screen recordings to a flash drive and print photographs allegedly displayed during the defendant’s social media broadcast.

According to the witness, he transferred the materials to a Microsoft Surface laptop before printing the photographs with a Canon printer.

He also confirmed that his iPhone 14 Pro Max, laptop and printer were in good working condition when he used them to record, transfer and print the materials.

The prosecution also sought to establish the witness’s identification of his statement and petition to the police, alongside the electronic materials he said he had submitted.

Olamilekan, 32, is popularly known on TikTok as “BINTINLAYEAZEEZ 1991”. He was arraigned on June 1, 2026, on a two-count charge relating to the alleged unlawful display of nude photographs and threat to life. He pleaded not guilty.

The prosecution alleged that the offences occurred in July 2025 in Isolo, Lagos, contrary to Sections 168(1)(d) and 56(1)(a) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Following his arraignment, the court granted the defendant bail of N500,000, with two sureties in like sum.

At an earlier hearing, Adebanwo told the court that the defendant had allegedly cyberbullied him on several occasions. He also alleged that the conduct affected his mother’s health.

The court had previously adjourned the matter to allow the parties to explore an out-of-court settlement. However, the prosecution later told the court that the complainant alleged that the defendant continued to cyberbully him on social media after being granted bail.

The defendant has denied the allegations by pleading not guilty.

The trial is scheduled to continue on November 23, 2026.
