In a bid to engage youths productively and promote alternative sources of income, the Lagos State Government, through the Centre for Rural Development (CERUD), has trained and empowered 50 youths from the Epe rural division on honeybee production and management.
Speaking at the one-day training, Mr. Musibau Muyiwa Balogun, Director/CEO of CERUD, highlighted the vast opportunities in commercial honey production. “There are limitless opportunities in honey production, and there is a ready market for the product,” Balogun stated, encouraging participants to leverage the skills and materials provided to improve their livelihoods.

Expressing her gratitude, Mrs. Titi Adeaga, one of the participants, said, “I am grateful to CERUD and the Lagos State Government for this opportunity. I will use the knowledge gained to boost my income.”
Each participant received a metal stand, wooden beehive, smoker, protective bee clothing, face veil, and a pair of boots, equipping them to start their ventures in apiculture.
