Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to positioning Lagos as Africa’s leading hub for digital gaming, fintech solutions, and AI-driven creative enterprises.

Speaking at the Africa Gaming Expo (AGE) 2025 on Tuesday at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, Governor Sanwo-Olu highlighted the transformative potential of AI in gaming, financial technology, and digital entertainment.

“Over the last decade, Africa’s gaming and fintech sectors have witnessed explosive growth, driven by increasing smartphone penetration, digital transactions, and a young, tech-savvy population,” Sanwo-Olu said. “AI is at the forefront of this revolution, powering fraud detection, personalised gaming experiences, responsible gaming initiatives, and financial security.”

The governor emphasized Lagos State’s efforts to create an enabling environment for innovation through progressive regulations, strategic investments, and digital infrastructure.

“We are actively working on policies and initiatives that will position Lagos as the leading hub for digital gaming, fintech solutions, and AI-driven creative enterprises in Africa,” he added. “This is more than just an expo—it is a launchpad for ideas, partnerships, and innovations that will define the next phase of Africa’s digital transformation.”

The event, attended by regulators, investors, and gaming enthusiasts from across Africa, provided a platform to discuss the role of AI in shaping the future of the gaming industry.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos State Lottery and Gaming Authority (LSLGA), Mr. Bashir Are, also underscored the significance of the expo, stating, “AGE is an annual event where gaming regulators, operators, and the entire value chain come together to deliberate and proffer solutions to industry challenges.”

With over 500 delegates participating globally, the event, themed “Transforming the Gaming Sector with Artificial Intelligence and Fintech,” signals Lagos’ ambition to lead in Africa’s digital economy.
