The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) has honored the valiant efforts of its troops during the successful Operation LAKE SANITY 2 (OPLS 2) with a grand medal presentation ceremony held at its headquarters in Farcha, N’Djamena, Chad.
The event, graced by Chad’s Minister of Armed Forces, Veterans, and War Victims, Issaka Maluoa Djamous, celebrated the bravery and sacrifices of the troops. The Minister commended the operation’s achievements, which he described as a testament to the unwavering commitment of the MNJTF in restoring peace and stability to the region. He paid tribute to fallen soldiers, emphasizing that their sacrifices would never be forgotten.
Major General Ibrahim Sallau Ali, MNJTF Force Commander, highlighted key successes of OPLS 2, including the repatriation of over 30,000 displaced persons, the neutralization of more than 310 terrorists, and the surrender of over 800 insurgents and their families. He also praised the collaborative efforts of national forces and the Lake Chad Basin Commission in achieving these milestones.
The ceremony saw the decoration of sector commanders, troops, and Chiefs of Defence Staff from Troop Contributing Countries (TCCs) with OPLS 2 medals. Families of wounded and fallen soldiers were also recognized for their sacrifices.
The event concluded with the commissioning of a newly remodelled MNJTF Photo Stand, symbolizing the enduring legacy of the operation.
