In a decisive victory, troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) operating under Sector 3 have successfully repelled a brutal attack by Boko Haram terrorists in Mallam Fatori. The well-coordinated counter-offensive, launched after the terrorists ambushed the MNJTF position, resulted in the neutralization of five insurgents and the recovery of a significant cache of arms and ammunition.
The attack, which took place during a fierce gun battle, saw the MNJTF troops demonstrating their superior firepower and tactical combat skills. After forcing the remaining insurgents to flee with gunshot wounds, the troops launched a relentless hot pursuit.
This pursuit led to the terrorists abandoning a large haul of military-grade weapons, including a PKM machine gun with 200 link belt rounds, two AK-47 rifles, two hand grenades, five magazines, and three empty PKM links. Additional items recovered from the fleeing insurgents included a Techno mobile phone and N15,000 in cash.
The successful operation is seen as a major blow to Boko Haram, crippling their capacity to carry out further attacks in the region. The cache of weapons recovered will also reduce the threat posed to civilians in the Lake Chad area, where Boko Haram’s activities have caused untold devastation.
Major General Ibrahim Ali, the MNJTF Force Commander, commended the troops for their bravery and steadfast commitment to the fight against terrorism. He praised their efforts in protecting the region and reaffirmed the force’s dedication to restoring peace and security in the Lake Chad area.
The MNJTF’s success in Mallam Fatori sends a strong message that terrorist activities will not be tolerated and that the joint forces remain resolute in their mission to dismantle Boko Haram’s influence in the region.
