Napoli forward Victor Osimhen has revealed he will continue to wear a protective mask for the rest of his footballing career.
The 25yr old prolific striker Osimhen suffered a horrific head injury during Napoli’s 3–2 loss to Inter Milan in 2021 where he fractured his skull and eye socket, He immediately underwent a surgery and was ruled out of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
His absence was heavily felt as Nigeria crashed out in the Round of 16.
Osimhen now regularly wears a protective mask and has stated that he will continue to use it throughout his career because he still has eighteen screws holding together broken parts of his face, so he’s condemned to wearing the mask as protection and not for fashion.
Osimhen has seven goals and provided two assists in the thirteen matches played so far this season for Napoli and scored Nigeria’s only goal at the ongoing Africa cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
