… Says Nigeria Can Never Be One Party State
Chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and aspirant vying for the National Chairmanship position of the party, Chief Segun Sowunmi has said that he is joining the race to reshape and reform the political space of the Country and to return the party to a sustainable path.
Sowunmi was speaking against the perceived backdrop of the country drifting towards a one-party state, he disclosed that the Nigeria state will never be a one-party state no co the Politicking and intrigue going on, adding that PDP is a formidable force to reckon with in terms of its opinion and stance on the political situation of the Country.
He stated that after 25 years of existence of the PDP, the party must have the ability to reform itself and make genuine progress for the interest of ordinary Nigeria.
“We should be able to be a party that is reformed and runs according to its laws, rules, and regulations. We can be a party that is not funded in a sustainable manner”.

While reacting to what the former interim National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chief Bisi Akande said recently, Sowunmi noted that given the element of analysis, data, and review made by him, nothing suggests that the ruling party has managed the country better than the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
He further stated that the polarization of the party is just a systemic expression of issues in the party.
Sowunmi explained that his desire to contest for the highest position in the party was borne by his valuable and insightful contribution as well as developmental ideas for the new and focused people democratic part of Nigeria’s dream where everybody’s Contributions are considered important to the youth wing of the party saw and were convinced about and began to do the workings.
“ I don’t just wake up one day to say I want to contest but it was my ideas about how to redirect our great party to the path of honor and Glorious that the youths noticed and the rest is history”
