Abuja, Nigeria — The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd.), on Tuesday commissioned a state-of-the-art Vision Centre at the Agency’s National Headquarters Annex in Abuja, part of an ongoing drive to enhance staff welfare and productivity.

The high-tech facility, established in strategic partnership with the Nigerian Optometric Association (NOA) and its partner, OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation, will provide affordable, quality eye care services to NDLEA personnel and members of the public.

Expressing his gratitude at the commissioning, Marwa emphasized the vital role of good vision in improving productivity and quality of life.
“We are here with every sense of fulfilment and happiness to commission this Vision Centre,” he said. “Vision is key to our performance as an Agency and in our personal lives. I encourage all officers, men, and women of the Agency to embrace regular eye checkups.”
He also acknowledged the contributions of the team of optometrists managing the centre: “We appreciate you for accepting to serve in this capacity even in uncharted grounds. This Centre is a worthy addition to our several initiatives to promote the wellbeing of our workforce.”

In his remarks, NOA President, Dr. Chimeziri Anderson, described the commissioning as the culmination of a purposeful collaboration with the NDLEA.
“This Vision Centre is one of only a few we have established within government institutions,” Dr. Anderson noted. “With support from our partners in France and Dubai, we are bringing world-class equipment and services to ensure access to premium eye care and quality eyewear for NDLEA staff and their families.”

Dr. Audu Okpe, the NDLEA Director of Medical Services, called the facility “another milestone in the Agency’s growing portfolio of staff welfare initiatives under the leadership of Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa.”
He added that the initiative underscores “a broader commitment to fostering public health partnerships between security institutions and professional medical bodies in Nigeria.”

The new Vision Centre is expected to enhance the health and morale of NDLEA staff, while providing much-needed eye care services to the public.
