Comptroller Ahmadu Bello Shuaibu, delivering his paper at a three-day retreat in Kaduna

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has reaffirmed its commitment to climate change mitigation. The assurance was given by Comptroller Ahmadu Bello Shuaibu while delivering a key presentation at a three-day retreat in Kaduna. Organized in partnership with the Red Cross Kaduna North Division, the retreat, held from October 6 to 9, 2024, focused on youth involvement in tackling climate change.

Comptroller Shuaibu presented a paper on October 8, stressing the NCS’s responsibility as a signatory to various Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs). He called for greater collaboration among stakeholders, the promotion of sustainable trade practices, renewable energy, and combating wildlife trafficking to tackle the growing climate crisis.

The retreat also showcased the devastating impacts of climate change on Nigeria, from erratic weather patterns to rising temperatures. Participants discussed solutions, including sustainable agriculture and eco-friendly policies. The event concluded with a tree-planting exercise, symbolizing a united commitment to climate change mitigation and environmental sustainability.
