Ogun School proprietress abducted, one Thai Expatriate Missing

The proprietress of Excel Group of Schools in Ogun State, Mrs.Helen Odunubi has been allegedly abducted by unidentified individuals on Friday within the school premises.

The incident occurred at approximately 1 pm in the Ogunsua Crescent, Oserw Baba Odun Matogbun area of Agbado.

According to a source, the trouble began when two women and two men drove an unregistered ash-coloured Toyota Sienna directly to the school proprietress’ office.

Ayodeji Odunubi, the son of the 56-year-old victim, informed the police that the suspects, unfamiliar to the area, forcibly took his mother and swiftly fled in the same vehicle.

The Guardian Learnt that as at yesterday Mrs. Odunubi where about remain unknown, and no communication regarding a ransom has been established between the abductors and the family.

Omolola Odutola, the Public Relations Officer for the police command, assured that collaborative efforts with local security outfits are underway to locate and rescue the victim.

Relatedly, a 29-year-old Thai expatriate named Chotika Sabrit has been declared missing in the Makun Sagamu area of Ogun State.

Until her disappearance, an employee at the Dragon Inn Restaurant and Spa, Sabrit disappeared after leaving the company’s premises on Tuesday. Despite extensive efforts, her whereabouts are still unknown, and no ransom demands have been made.

Omolola Odutola, confirming the situation, stated that intensified efforts are being made to locate the missing Thai expatriate, emphasizing the language barrier as she can only communicate in Thai.

Recall that unidentified gunmen kidnapped a 70-year-old piggery farmer and elder of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pa Adeife Ifelaja from his residence in Ijebu-Igbo, the headquarters of Ijebu North Local Council of Ogun State.

Allegedly kidnapped on December 31, 2023, and held captive for nine days, the abductors demanded a N50 million ransom.

The state Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, assured ongoing efforts to secure the release of the elderly man.

Also on December 4, 2023, it was reported that suspected hoodlums attacked a poultry farm in Atoyo town, Itele area of Ogun State.

Six individuals were initially kidnapped, including the owner, and taken to a forest where their mobile phones were confiscated.

Subsequently, the owner and one other person were released, while three victims remained captive. The state police command disclosed that two individuals linked to the crime have been apprehended.
