Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has set a transformative tone ahead of his February 24, 2025, inauguration by approving the reconstruction, rehabilitation, and asphalt overlay of over 50 township roads across the state’s 18 local government areas. This initiative is a critical part of his ‘OUR EASE’ campaign promise.
The Governor’s Special Adviser on Infrastructure, Pastor Ayoade Babalola, emphasized the administration’s commitment to economic growth and quality of life improvement through enhanced road infrastructure.
“Investing in road infrastructure is essential for building a strong foundation for our transportation system, driving economic growth, and improving quality of life,” Babalola stated.
Contracts for asphalt overlay on 60 kilometers of roads, awarded in August 2024, are already underway. Newly approved projects will run concurrently, with contractors mobilized to deliver results promptly.
Babalola highlighted the N433 billion allocated for capital expenditure in the 2025 budget, representing 62.06% of total expenditure, as evidence of the administration’s commitment to making Ondo State an infrastructural hub.

Key projects include the rehabilitation of roads in Akure, Owo, Ose, Ondo, Odigbo, and Ilaje, among others. Notable works include the construction of a flyover and junction improvements at Onyeagbulem-Shagari/Irese Road in Akure and the dualization of Akure-Oda Road.
“Our goal is to complete ongoing projects in the next few months while initiating processes for new ones, such as the dualization of Akure–Oke Aro–Idanre road and the construction of Agbaluku–Imo road in Arigidi Akoko,” Babalola added.
Residents have already begun to see progress, with scarification, drainage construction, and earthworks underway on several roads, including Iwaro-Ayegunle in Akoko and Kajola Lane in Owo.
