With just ten days to the Ondo State gubernatorial election, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa’s re-election campaign gathered significant momentum on Wednesday as he visited Odigbo Local Government Area. Welcomed by traditional rulers and residents, the Governor received a powerful endorsement from His Royal Majesty, Oba Rufus Olugboyega Akinrinmade, the Orunja of Odigbo Kingdom, who highlighted Aiyedatiwa’s leadership as a “divine call from our ancestors.”

The Orunja praised Aiyedatiwa for his focus on development projects that have brought progress to Ondo State. “It is the Ifa oracle that has chosen Aiyedatiwa, not any human being,” he said, adding, “His mandate is a divine call from our ancestors, and there is nothing anyone can do to alter this.”

The monarch urged the people of Odigbo to rally behind the Governor and ensure a strong turnout at the polls on November 16. He also prayed for the Governor’s success while bringing several pressing community issues to his attention.

In his response, Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed deep gratitude to the Orunja and other traditional leaders across the state for their steadfast support. He assured them of his administration’s commitment to addressing the highlighted issues, including matters concerning forest reserves and inter-community relations. During the visit, he also inaugurated a new block of four classrooms and a staff room at Isero Grammar School, funded under the Ondo Care Initiative.

Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Hamidu Takuro, reiterated the strong support for the Governor’s re-election in Odigbo, noting, “The people of Odigbo have already resolved to support Aiyedatiwa, whose priority is the comprehensive development of Ondo State and the well-being of its citizens.”

In Ore, the headquarters of Odigbo, Pastor Olarewaju Segun, representing non-indigenous communities, raised concerns over the infrastructural needs of the area, a critical economic hub in the state. “Ore is a heterogeneous society that requires significant infrastructural investment to boost economic activities and improve the standard of living for residents,” he said.

Governor Aiyedatiwa pledged to integrate these requests into the 2025 budget, affirming that his administration is committed to Ore’s development as an economic hub. He emphasized, “We are planning strategically to ensure these projects will benefit all residents.”

The campaign tour, which also visited Mile 13 in Oniseere Ward, Kajola, and Araromi Obu, concluded with the Governor’s supporters and top officials, including Deputy Governor Dr. Olayide Adelami, Director General of the campaign Abiola Makinde, and notable leaders across Ondo State.
