Operation Save Haven arrests armed youths following mayhem in Kerang, Mangu

In a swift response to the violent unrest witnessed in the Kerang communities, Operation SAFE HAVEN has announced the successful apprehension of the perpetrators. The disturbing incident involved an attack on Airforce Personnel enforcing a 24-hour curfew in Kerang Mangu, Plateau State.

According to a statement released by Captain Oya James, the Media Information Officer of Operation SAFE HAVEN, the irate youths not only caused extensive destruction and looting of properties but also launched an aggressive assault on the enforcing personnel.

The assault, which included firing at patrol vehicles, posed a significant threat to both military personnel and the community’s safety. In response, the military conducted an operation resulting in the apprehension of the attackers and the seizure of a cache of dangerous weapons used during the attack.

The recovered arsenal includes one AK-47 rifle, four locally fabricated automatic rifles, one locally made mortar bomb launcher, along with various ammunition and accessories.

The Nigerian Military has vehemently condemned the violent act, emphasizing its commitment to upholding the rule of law and maintaining peace and security in the region. Citizens are urged to refrain from engaging in further violence and to adhere to the imposed curfew for the collective well-being of the community.

Operation SAFE HAVEN reassures the residents of Plateau State of their dedication to ensuring the safety and security of all law-abiding citizens. Cooperation from the community in providing information leading to the apprehension of individuals involved in unlawful activities is solicited.

The military remains committed to working in partnership with the people of Plateau State to foster a peaceful and secure environment for all.
