The Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has called on the newly inaugurated President of the Lagos State Public Service Club, Mr Olukayode Odunuga, to prioritize innovation and strategic partnerships as he leads the club into a new era.
Speaking on Friday at the club’s presidential inauguration in Lagos, Sanwo-Olu, represented by the Head of Service, Mr Bode Agoro, encouraged the 24th president of the club to build a lasting legacy that would elevate the club’s relevance both locally and globally.
“Remain motivated and effective in your duties,” the governor urged. “To our newly inaugurated executive council members, your election today is both an honour and a sacred trust. Let innovation be the compass that guides your tenure.”
Sanwo-Olu also praised the outgoing executives for their dedication and urged the new team to honour the foundation laid by their predecessors while striving to leave their own mark.
“To the outgoing executive council members, I express my deep appreciation for your selfless service. The legacy you leave behind will continue to inspire others,” he said, assuring continued government support for initiatives that bolster a vibrant and efficient public service.
Chairman of the occasion, Chief Kensington Adebutu, represented by Mr Owoseye Shonuga, encouraged Odunuga to maintain the high standards set by previous administrations.
“I appreciate Mr Governor for being kind to the club, also the past presidents and their executives for a good job well done,” Shonuga said on Adebutu’s behalf. “We believe the new president will surpass their achievements.”
In his remarks, immediate past president Mr Adeniyi Oloko urged more participation in the club’s offerings. “Health is wealth, and so there is the need for people to come out and take advantage of the sporting facilities in the club,” he said.
Newly sworn-in President Olukayode Odunuga pledged to promote unity, drive innovation, and improve member experience through modern infrastructure and digital platforms.
“Our goal is to create a dynamic and inclusive space where every member feels valued and empowered,” Odunuga said. “We will harness our differences to drive innovation and growth.”
He also appealed to the Head of Service for logistical and administrative support, including a utility bus and additional clerical staff to manage club branches in Ikeja, Epe, and Badagry.
Established in September 1979, the Lagos State Public Service Club currently has over 6,000 members and serves as a hub for social, recreational, and professional development activities among public servants and residents.
