In a heartwarming Boxing Day gesture, Serene Early-Trobb Concepts (Initiative) partnered with DOHs Cares Foundation to bring joy and enlightenment to the Royal Diamond Orphanage Home. The visit aimed to celebrate the festive season while shedding light on critical issues such as Gender-based violence (GBV), mental health, and menstrual hygiene.

Rhoda Oluwatosin Olorunfemi, the Executive Director of Serene Early-Trobb Concepts (Initiative), emphasised the dual purpose of the visit. Not only did they engage teenagers in enlightening sessions on crucial topics, but it also marked the organization’s annual thanksgiving. The occasion included the distribution of food items to the orphanage home, expressing gratitude for the fruitful endeavors of the year 2023 and preparing for the upcoming year.

Ms. Olorunfemi conveyed heartfelt appreciation to supporters, well-wishers, volunteers, sponsors, and partners worldwide. The organization’s commitment to inclusivity was evident in its Community and Orphanage-Based (Inclusivity) project for Children and Teenagers. This initiative ensures that every child, especially those in orphanages, receives education on GBV, mental health, and hygiene, providing them with essential knowledge to navigate life’s challenges.

“We aim to give them channels to open up and provide emergency contact numbers,” Ms. Olorunfemi explained, underlining the organization’s dedication to the welfare, rights, and protection of vulnerable children.

Ololade Ajayi-Oye, the founder and Executive Director of DOHs Cares Foundation, addressed the pervasive issue of abuse in orphanage homes. The foundation’s role extends beyond sensitisation, actively working to prevent abuse by educating children on body safety and recognizing signs of potential harm.

Ms. Ajayi-Oye emphasised the importance of general hygiene, including menstrual hygiene, as essential information for young girls in orphanages. Recognizing a gap in access to menstruation management services, she highlighted the crucial role nonprofit organisations play in conducting sensitisation campaigns to bridge these educational disparities.
