A non-governmental organization, SURE-4U, has extended humanitarian assistance to 220 vulnerable widows in Hadejia, Jigawa State, as part of its continued efforts to support disadvantaged groups and promote social inclusion across Nigeria.

Speaking during the outreach, the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of SURE-4U, Muhammad Babandede, CON, expressed his delight at being able to meet the needs of the widows, describing the initiative as a fulfillment of the organization’s humanitarian mandate.

“We are indeed grateful to Allah for this opportunity to reach out to those in dire need, especially vulnerable widows, who the society must care for and support,” Babandede said.

“SURE-4U is carrying out one of its core mandates, and we look forward to extending similar support to other communities across the country. We are humanitarian, not just charitable,” he added.

Each of the 220 widows received a 25kg bag of rice, 2 litres of King’s cooking oil, packaged sugar, a wrapper, and ₦20,000 cash support to help improve their living conditions. In addition, Senator (Amb.) A.M. Malam Madori, who graced the event as the Special Guest of Honour, personally gave ₦10,000 each to all the beneficiaries.

The widows, who have a total of 1,689 children, 705 in school and 984 out of school, were identified as some of the most vulnerable groups in the area. SURE-4U has pledged to work toward ensuring that the children currently enrolled in school remain there, while efforts will be made to help those out of school gain access to education.

In a statement signed by Mannir Yari, Director of Programs, SURE-4U, the organization’s Board of Trustees and Management expressed appreciation to the people of Hadejia Emirate, particularly His Royal Highness Alhaji (Dr.) Adamu Abubakar Maje, CON, the Emir of Hadejia, for officially declaring the programme open and accepting to serve as the Grand Patron of the NGO.

The statement also extended gratitude to Senator (Amb.) A.M. Malam Madori, Hon. Abubakar Makki Yellema, DG NITDA Kashifu Inuwa, and ACGC Babandede (Magajin Rafin Hadejia) for their support in making the project a reality.

“The programme was successfully conducted, and all the 220 vulnerable widows attended and received their support items,” the statement noted. “The Jigawa State Government, under the leadership of Governor Umar Namadi, is also supporting our work greatly.”

The outreach, which took place under the supervision of local community leaders and dignitaries, marks another milestone in SURE-4U’s humanitarian mission to empower widows, enhance livelihoods, and foster hope in rural communities.
