LAGESC Clears Miscreants from Oshodi, Ikeja-Along Pedestrian Bridges in Enforcement Drive

1 Mins read

The Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC), known as KIA, conducted an enforcement operation to remove miscreants from pedestrian bridges along major expressways in response to public outcry over safety concerns.

LAGESC, led by Corps Marshal Major Olatunbosun Olaniyi Cole (Retd), addressed the necessity of dislodging touts and miscreants from the Oshodi and Ikeja-Along pedestrian bridges to ensure pedestrian safety. Concerns were raised about the occupation of these bridges by individuals engaging in nefarious activities, such as harassing pedestrians and obstructing their use of the bridges.

Cole emphasized the agency’s commitment to ongoing enforcement efforts and warned that individuals posing a threat to pedestrian safety on highways would be apprehended and prosecuted. He urged Lagos residents to utilize pedestrian bridges for their safety and cautioned against crossing highways illegally, as violators would face legal consequences.

Furthermore, Cole issued a stern warning to traders conducting business on, around, and beneath pedestrian bridges, citing such activities as street trading, which is prohibited by the State’s Environmental Laws. He emphasized that legal action would be taken against any offenders apprehended by KIA operatives.

The enforcement operation conducted by LAGESC underscores the commitment to ensuring the safety and proper use of pedestrian bridges in Lagos State. By addressing the presence of miscreants and enforcing regulations against illegal activities, the agency aims to enhance pedestrian safety and promote compliance with environmental laws.
