Olympic medalist Ese Brume made history once more in athletics at the African Games in Accra, Ghana.

Brume continues her winning streak in the long jump on the continental scene, where she has not failed to win a medal in eight years, since she first tasted success at the African Championships in Durban in 2016.

She becomes the second woman, after Modupe Oshikoya, to successfully defend an African Games title in the long jump. From her first attempt,

it was evident that the African Record holder had it covered. However, she claimed gold with a 6.9m jump. Her closest competitor, Marthe Koala of Burkina Faso, registered a jump of 6.81m to claim the silver.

Brume was emotional about her win after discovering she had extended her record.

In the spirit of the game, she called up compatriot Ruth Usoro, who finished fourth, to celebrate on the podium.

Certainly, a win for one is a win for all.

Team Nigeria finished with five medals on day four of athletics.
