It goes beyond the Jollof battle anytime Nigeria battles Ghana, and the bragging rights is what both countries take joy in, depending on who ends up on the winning side.

Both team went into the final of the 2023 African games with this in mind, but Ghana earned the bragging rights over defending champions Nigeria beating the Falconets 2-1 to claim a gold medal in football.

Mukarama Abdullai 99th minute strike proved to be the match winner for Ghana after the game ended 1-1 in regulation time

Reacting after the game, Falconets midfielder Rukayat Shobowale described the African Games women’s final defeat to Ghana as a hard pill to take, and disappointed that they could not defend the title they won at the 2019 edition in Morocco.

On the other hand, Black Princesses of Ghana head coach, Yussif Basigi expressed satisfaction with his team’s victory over the Falconets of Nigeria, adding that his girls are “champions in every sense”.

The Falconets will now turn their attention to the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Colombia later in the year.
