Lagos DSVA Expands Campaign Against Sexual and Gender-Based Violence to Iba LCDA

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) recently extended its campaign against Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) to the Iba Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Community Development Council. 

During the event, Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, Executive Secretary of Lagos DSVA, emphasized the importance of engaging communities in the fight against all forms of abuse. “Reaching the communities for collaborative efforts in the fight against all forms of abuses and violence remains crucial and cannot be underestimated,” she stated.

Representatives from the DSVA’s Community Department, who stood in for Vivour-Adeniyi, reiterated the State Government’s unwavering commitment to eradicating SGBV. “The Agency is ensuring that the State Government’s resolve to rid the State of the SGBV menace remains unwavering and unflinching,” they affirmed.

Participants were informed about the various support services available to Lagosians, including free medical and legal services, empowerment programs, psycho-social support, and law enforcement assistance. Community leaders were encouraged to actively participate in the State Government’s efforts by exposing perpetrators, ensuring justice, and fostering a safe environment.

Emphasizing the importance of reporting cases of abuse, Vivour-Adeniyi urged the community leaders to utilize the official toll-free line, 08000333333, stating, “Prompt reporting is sacrosanct to evidence gathering and urged the leaders to ensure timely reports of such incidents.”
