Nigeria Reaffirms Solidarity with Chad in the Fight Against Terrorism

President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno of Chad hosted a high-ranking Nigerian delegation on Sunday, led by Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu. The delegation, which included top military and intelligence officials, delivered a message of condolence and solidarity from Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following the recent tragic terrorist attack on Barkaram Island.

In the written message, President Tinubu expressed Nigeria’s deep sympathy for Chad’s loss, emphasizing the shared resolve to counter regional security threats.

“This is a time for unity,” President Tinubu wrote. “Nigeria stands firmly with Chad in the face of this senseless violence, and we reaffirm our unwavering commitment to peace and stability in our region.”

President Déby thanked Nigeria for its solidarity, underscoring the importance of continued collaboration in the Lake Chad Basin. “Our partnership is vital for addressing these common challenges. Together, we will overcome terrorism and bring lasting peace to our people,” he stated.
