The Igbogbo Community in Ikorodu, Lagos, welcomed the new year with a powerful display of unity and harmony through its annual inter-religious prayer session. The event, held under the auspices of the traditional ruler, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, brought together community members from various religious and social backgrounds to pray for peace, prosperity, and progress in 2025.

In his address, Oba Kasali emphasized the importance of community cohesion and forward-thinking. “As we gather to pray and reflect on the past year, we will also be looking forward to the opportunities and challenges that the new year will bring,” the monarch stated, highlighting the community’s unwavering commitment to tolerance, resilience, and understanding.

The prayer session featured prominent religious leaders who, alongside Oba Kasali, encouraged residents to support government initiatives and work collaboratively to build a sustainable future. Oba Kasali’s message resonated deeply, underscoring the role of unity in fostering development amid diversity.

Speaking with journalists, Adeniran Kasali, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tertiary Education and a respected son of Igbogbo, expressed his gratitude to God for the community’s preservation. He urged members to pool their collective wisdom and experience to tackle modern challenges while upholding their unique cultural values.

“Together, we have the capacity to create a better future for ourselves and the generations to come,” Kasali remarked.

The event, which drew an impressive turnout of traditional rulers, religious leaders, and other stakeholders, was a testament to the strength of the community’s bonds. It served as a reminder of the vital role harmony plays in achieving progress and prosperity.
