AFCON2023: FOFANA SCORES FIRST GOAL OF THE TOURNAMENT

Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire kicked off their campaign on a winning note as they defeated Guinea Bissau 2-0 in the opening game of the 2023 Africa cup of nations on Saturday at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium.

In what will be the first ever meeting between both sides, Seko Fofana opened scoring for the host in the fourth minute to send the stands to a wild cheer, before Jean-Philippe Krasso doubled the lead in the second half to secure maximum points for the Ivorians.

Fofana was also awarded Man of the Match after an impressive performance

The Djurtus of Guinea Bissau toiled all night to no avail as they continued their search for their first ever AFCON win since making their debut In 2017.

Up next for Ivory Coast is Nigeria while Guinea Bissau battles Equatorial Guinea on Thursday.
