Governor Aiyedatiwa Hails FUTA’s Commitment to Academic Excellence at 34th and 35th Convocation

The Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has commended the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) for its remarkable contributions to academic excellence, innovation, and nation-building.

Speaking during the university’s 34th and 35th convocation ceremonies held on Saturday, Governor Aiyedatiwa praised the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adenike Oladiji, and the management team for their dedication to fostering education and technological advancements.
“You have transformed FUTA into a world-class institution with groundbreaking achievements,” the Governor stated. “The calibre of graduates this university consistently produces is a testament to your resilience and commitment to excellence.”

Congratulating the graduands, Governor Aiyedatiwa applauded their perseverance and hard work, which culminated in their academic success. He urged them to be exemplary ambassadors of FUTA by upholding virtues such as integrity, hard work, and resilience.
“Remember, the global landscape is highly competitive,” he advised. “Use your knowledge and skills to make meaningful contributions to society and your communities.”

The Governor also reiterated the state government’s commitment to providing an enabling environment for academic development, innovation, and enterprise.
“We share a collective vision towards nation-building in support of the RENEWED HOPE Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he added, while also outlining his administration’s development agenda, “OUR EASE,” focusing on security, urban and rural development, healthcare, education, and sustainable agriculture.

In her welcome address, Professor Oladiji described FUTA as a beacon of academic excellence and innovation. She commended the graduands for their dedication and resilience, emphasizing that their achievements reflect the institution’s commitment to advancing education through science, technology, and engineering. “We are proud of the impact you will make as you leave these walls,” she said. “Your achievements embody the spirit of FUTA.”

The Vice-Chancellor also acknowledged the unwavering support of the Ondo State Government, which she said has been pivotal in sustaining the university’s mission.

The high points of the convocation were the conferment of degrees on 1,280 postgraduate students, including 344 PGD, 756 Masters, and 180 Ph.D. recipients. Over 6,500 undergraduates also graduated, with 519 achieving first-class honours, 3,408 earning second-class upper, 2,139 attaining second-class lower, and 339 in the third-class division.
