Ikare Akoko and surrounding communities came alive on Saturday as Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the upcoming November 16 Ondo State governorship election, brought his campaign tour to Akoko North East local government. The atmosphere was festive, with residents warmly welcoming the Governor, his deputy and running mate Dr. Olayide Adelami, and their campaign team as they visited Iboropa, Akunnu, and Ikare Akoko to engage residents and local leaders.

In Ikare Akoko, the heart of the local government area, Governor Aiyedatiwa was received by traditional rulers, including the Owa-Ale of Iyometa Ikare Oba Adeleke Adegbite and the Olukare of Ikare, Oba Akadiri Momoh. The Governor expressed deep gratitude for their blessings and acknowledged the crucial support of the royal fathers in his emergence as APC’s candidate. “I am truly humbled by the incredible show of support from the people of Ikare,” said Aiyedatiwa. “Your commitment to our vision for a better Ondo State fills me with immense pride.”

Reflecting on the progress his administration has achieved, the Governor highlighted improvements in infrastructure, agriculture, and education. “We have achieved so much together, from upgrading our roads to enhancing agriculture and investing in our schools, but our work is far from over. With your continued support on November 16, we can deliver even more transformation and development,” he added.

The campaign tour also saw a notable shift in political allegiance as Mr. Stephen Olemija, a former House of Representatives member, along with former PDP figures including Lekan Bada and Momoh Mufu (Apongan), officially joined the APC, pledging their support for Governor Aiyedatiwa’s re-election. Their defection represents a significant boost to the APC in the region, underscoring Aiyedatiwa’s appeal across party lines.

Governor Aiyedatiwa concluded by expressing gratitude for the tremendous support and reaffirming his dedication to making Ondo State a model of growth and inclusivity.
