Ibeju-Lekki Chairman Warns Scrap Vendors Over Environmental Pollution

The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Mr Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, has raised concerns about the activities of scrap metal vendors, popularly known as “bola,” citing their contribution to street littering and environmental pollution.

During a meeting with the vendors, Mr. Olowa expressed his dissatisfaction with the state of the environment and emphasized the need for accountability within the trade. He announced plans to create a comprehensive database to identify genuine operators and eliminate criminal elements from the industry.

Mallam Biliyaminu Mani, leader of the scrap metal operators, assured the Chairman of the association’s full cooperation. He pledged to compile a list of legitimate vendors to support the council’s efforts in maintaining a cleaner and safer environment.
