The Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has praised the achievements and enduring legacy of former governor Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, describing him as a transformative leader whose tenure significantly impacted the lives of Ondo State residents.
Speaking at the Special Divine Agenda Praise Evening on Monday at the Dome in Akure, held to mark Dr. Mimiko’s 70th birthday, Governor Aiyedatiwa highlighted the former governor’s exceptional service and his lasting contributions to the state.
“Dr. Mimiko is a leader who transformed Ondo State through impactful projects and policies that touched the lives of our people in profound ways,” Governor Aiyedatiwa said. “His dedication to human-centered governance earned him the love and respect of the citizens. This celebration is a testament to the legacy he has built and the affection people have for him.”

The Governor further noted that Dr. Mimiko’s achievements in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and social programs continue to inspire both the current administration and future leaders.

In his response, an emotional Dr. Mimiko expressed gratitude for the recognition. “It is deeply humbling to be celebrated in this way,” he said. “I am grateful to God, my family, and the good people of Ondo State for believing in my vision and supporting me throughout my tenure.”
The former governor also credited his family for their unwavering support, particularly his wife, Oluwakemi Mimiko. “Her encouragement and sacrifices were instrumental to my achievements,” he added.

Mrs. Mimiko, in her remarks, described her husband as a visionary leader whose work has left a lasting imprint on the lives of Ondo residents.
The event, filled with music, prayers, and tributes, featured the cutting of a celebratory cake by Dr. Mimiko and the presentation of gifts by family, friends, and dignitaries.
“This recognition motivates me to continue contributing to the development of our state in any way I can,” Dr. Mimiko concluded.
