Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have disrupted several drug trafficking operations across the country, leading to multiple arrests and large-scale drug seizures. In Lagos, a major breakthrough came with the arrest of Ejiofor Nnaemeka Chiwuzie, an automobile spare parts dealer, who attempted to export consignments of heroin and loud (a potent strain of cannabis) concealed in LED rechargeable lamps and sofa metal legs. The drugs, destined for Liberia, were intercepted at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, leading to Chiwuzie’s arrest and that of two freight agents.
In further operations, NDLEA officers intercepted attempts by drug networks to export various narcotics, including loud, tramadol pills, pentazocine injections, and other controlled substances through courier services to destinations like the U.S., U.K., Canada, Thailand, and Oman. Among the seizures were 2.3kg of loud bound for Thailand and 749 grams of tramadol hidden in soles of footwear destined for Oman.
Similarly, the long-wanted drug kingpin, Ajiboye Damilare Samuel, a.k.a. Na God, was arrested after a 12-month evasion following a raid on his warehouse in Mushin, Lagos. Ajiboye was apprehended in a bank in Ogun State after NDLEA operatives tracked and blocked 20 bank accounts linked to him.

In another major operation, the NDLEA arrested Alhaji Bashir Mohammed Talba, a community leader and Sarkin Yamma of Badagry, after his two wives and son were apprehended, and 226.2kg of cannabis was seized from their homes.
Other notable arrests include three suspects in Kogi caught transporting 2,062kg of cannabis in a truck and a suspect in Lagos found with 9.7kg of cannabis sativa and 50 litres of “monkey tail,” a mixture of cannabis and gin.
On the maritime front, NDLEA operatives intercepted a boat at Lekki’s Alfa Beach carrying 71 bags of Ghana loud, weighing nearly 3,000kg. In Port Harcourt, NDLEA officers seized 1,500 cartons of codeine-based cough syrup containing 150,000 bottles, while in Niger State, 6,000 ampoules of pentazocine injection were recovered.
Across other states, including Kano, Plateau, and Edo, arrests and drug seizures continued, with NDLEA officers recovering over 50,000 pills of opioids, cannabis, and other narcotics.
NDLEA Chairman Mohamed Buba Marwa praised the agency’s operatives for their recent successes and ongoing efforts in the War Against Drug Abuse (WADA), which includes sensitization campaigns across schools, communities, and religious centers nationwide.
