The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has expressed concern over the persistent unprofessional conduct by a few officers, which continues to undermine its reputation and public trust. Despite repeated warnings and disciplinary measures, certain officers remain involved in shameful activities that erode confidence in the force.

In a statement signed by ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer, Force headquarters, Abuja on the December 28, the NPF highlighted the alarming misuse of the name and office of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) by some individuals to perpetrate fraudulent acts. According to the statement, these actions aim to intimidate victims by creating the false impression that the IGP approves of such illegal activities, discouraging them from seeking justice.

“We cannot tolerate individuals tarnishing the name of the Inspector-General or using the police force for their fraudulent schemes,” said Adejobi. “We urge the public to report such cases without fear. The Nigeria Police is committed to justice and fairness.”

The NPF emphasized the importance of public vigilance and urged Nigerians to report any misconduct directly to appropriate authorities. Key contacts provided include:

  • DCP Akin Fakorede, Head of IGP Monitoring Unit – 08184077076
  • ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force PRO – 08037168147
  • CSP Taiwo Oyewale, Head of IGP Special Investigation Unit – 08069318238
  • SP Sherriff Lawal, ADC to the IGP – 08094712605

The force reassured citizens of its commitment to maintaining integrity and professionalism. “The public’s cooperation is essential for us to restore trust and accountability,” added Adejobi

The NPF encourages Nigerians to report suspicious activities to ensure that justice prevails and to foster a safer society.
