In a rare show of post-election unity, candidates from 13 political parties that participated in last Saturday’s governorship election in Ondo State have pledged their support for Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa. The candidates, joined by their party chairmen, made the commitment during a meeting held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Akure on Friday.

Speaking on behalf of their parties—ranging from Labour Party (LP) to the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP)—the candidates accepted the election results and vowed to work with the governor to advance the state’s development agenda.

“We believe the election is behind us now,” said one of the candidates. “Our focus is to collaborate with the government for the good of Ondo State and its people.”

Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed gratitude for their gesture, calling it a “historic step” towards fostering unity and progress in the state. He emphasized the need for collective efforts to achieve sustainable development.

“Governance is a shared responsibility,” Aiyedatiwa stated. “My administration will continue to run an inclusive government that welcomes contributions from all parties. This is not about politics anymore; it’s about the future of Ondo State.”

The political parties present included Accord (A), Action Alliance (AA), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), African Democratic Party (ADP), and others. Their leaders echoed a shared commitment to supporting policies that prioritize the welfare of the state.

One party chairman remarked, “The election might be over, but the work to build Ondo State has just begun. We are ready to roll up our sleeves and join hands with the governor.”
