Ondo State Governor Pledges Commitment to Youth Development at Regional Summit

Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa of Ondo state has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to youth investment during the South West Youths Stakeholders Summit held at the Cocoa Conference Hall in Akure on Tuesday. 

Welcoming the Minister of Youth Development, Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim, Governor Aiyedatiwa emphasized the critical role of young people in society, highlighting the importance of quality education, skills training, and mentorship opportunities. 

“We must invest in our young people, providing them with access to quality education, skills training, and mentorship opportunities,” stated Governor Aiyedatiwa. “We believe in your energy, your creativity, and your passion. We believe that you have the power to transform our communities, our state, and our country.”

The Governor praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, recognizing its policies aimed at tackling unemployment, poverty, and inequality. He cited ongoing initiatives such as the recruitment of teachers and health professionals, youth empowerment programs in entrepreneurship, and the “One Youth, One Skill” initiative.

In her address, Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim lauded the resilience and patriotism of Nigerian youths, underscoring federal government reforms including the Nigeria Education Loan Fund and the Nigeria Youth Investment Fund. She encouraged youths to support government policies and utilize opportunities like the Consumer Credit Programme.

The event also saw commendations from the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Saka Yusuf Ogunleye, who praised the decision to hold the regional event in Ondo State.
