The Get Healthy Africa Initiative (GHAi), with the support from the Nigeria Youth Futures Fund (NYFF), is set to launch the Next-Gen Health Governance Project in Ondo State on Tuesday, September 30, and Wednesday, October 1, 2025. This groundbreaking initiative aims to empower youth, enhance community engagement, and promote accountability in the health sector.
The project will equip young people in Ondo State with the tools, knowledge, and platforms to actively participate in health governance, fostering transparent, responsive, and inclusive health systems. The Ondo State government, under the leadership of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has welcomed this initiative, which promises to positively impact the lives of youths in the state. The Honorable Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Segun Henry Omoyofunmi, will grace the event and the declare the program open as the special guest of honor.
Building on the success of a similar project in Osun State, where youth-led community mobilization and civic engagement around health issues yielded significant gains, GHAi is poised to replicate this impactful model in Ondo State.
Faysol Oluwakemi, Founder and Executive Director of GHAi, emphasized that the project creates space for youths to drive change and build the country they want. “Youths are not just the leaders of tomorrow; they are critical actors today,” Oluwakemi stated.
The Next-Gen Health Governance Project aligns with NYFF’s mission to strengthen youth leadership and participation in decision-making processes, particularly in critical sectors like health. Key activities will include:
- Youth leadership training on health advocacy and governance
- Community forums and stakeholder dialogues
- Grassroots campaigns promoting transparency and accountability in health service delivery
- Real-time engagement and updates via digital platforms
