Tyson Fury’s Undisputed Heavyweight Bout Delayed After Training Injury

1 Mins read

Tyson Fury’s highly anticipated showdown with Oleksandr Usyk for the undisputed heavyweight title has been delayed following an unfortunate injury suffered by the British boxer during training.

Fury sustained a “freak” cut above his right eye while sparring at his training camp in Saudi Arabia, just days before the scheduled bout on February 17 in Riyadh.

The severity of the injury required immediate medical attention and extensive stitching.

Expressing his disappointment, Fury stated, “I am absolutely devastated.” He had dedicated considerable time and effort to prepare for the long-awaited face-off against Usyk and was in peak physical condition.

Acknowledging the impact of the postponement, Fury empathized with all involved in organizing the event and assured his commitment to rescheduling once his eye has fully healed.

Fury currently holds the WBC title, while Usyk, hailing from Ukraine, possesses the WBA, WBO, and IBF belts.

Should the fight proceed at a later date, the victor will claim the prestigious title of the first undisputed heavyweight champion in the four-belt era.
