The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) has paid tribute to soldiers killed and wounded during Operation LAKE SANITY 2, with compensation ceremonies held in Mora Cameroon, and Maiduguri, Nigeria. Over the weekend, Major General Ibrahim Ali, the Force Commander, presented tokens of appreciation to the families of fallen soldiers and to those injured in action, recognizing their bravery and sacrifice in the ongoing efforts to bring stability to the Lake Chad Basin (LCB).
Major General Ali praised the bravery and sacrifice of the soldiers from Sector 1 (Mora) and Sector 3 (Monguno), noting that their actions in the Lake Chad Basin (LCB) serve as a reminder of the cost of freedom. “Their legacy will forever be a guiding light in the continued fight for peace in the region,” he said.
Addressing the families of the fallen soldiers, General Ali offered his condolences, acknowledging the deep pain of their loss. “Your loved ones served with honor and distinction, and their contribution to this noble cause will never be forgotten,” he said, adding that while no compensation could replace their sacrifice, the gesture was a token of the MNJTF’s gratitude.

The Force Commander also commended the wounded soldiers for their resilience and commitment to the mission, promising continued support for their recovery. “Your resilience inspires us all,” he remarked.
Colonel Tookap Pierre Loti, Commander of Sector 1, and Brigadier General Mohammed Babayo, Commander of Sector 3, both extended condolences during the events, with General Babayo emphasizing that while the supreme sacrifice cannot be compensated enough, the token offered is meant to support the families during these difficult times.
Mrs. Afusat Abubakar, who led the bereaved families, expressed her gratitude for the thoughtful gesture from the MNJTF. The ceremony concluded with the presentation of compensation tokens to beneficiaries by Major General Ali, along with other senior officers.
