In a significant development for local government administration in Nigeria, the Forum of Nigerian Commissioners of Local Government has appointed Kano State Deputy Governor, Mr Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, as its new interim Chairman. The announcement was made during the forum’s maiden meeting held in Abuja on Saturday, where commissioners from across the country gathered to discuss and strategize on key issues affecting local governments.
Mr. Gwarzo, who also holds the position of Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Kano State, brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record in local government to his new role. His appointment is seen as a strategic move to strengthen local government administration and foster collaboration among commissioners nationwide.
In a statement issued by Ibrahim Garba Shuaibu, Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, the appointment was described as a significant step towards enhancing the effectiveness of local governments. “This appointment is a testament to Comrade Gwarzo’s dedication and expertise in local government affairs,” Shuaibu said. “We believe his leadership will drive the forum towards achieving its goals.”
