In a noteworthy display of solidarity and respect, the leadership of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN), led by comrade Adewale Adeyanju embarked on a courtesy visit to the esteemed President-General Emmanuel Anthony Nted, at his residence in Festac, Lagos, on the 19th of January, 2024.
The visit, marked by the presence of the National Administrative Council (NAC) in convoy, was a tribute to the legacy and contributions of Comrade Nted, a distinguished labor administrator, former Dockworkers President, and the immediate past President-General of the Union.
Comrade Nted, who also served as the Vice President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), received commendation for his exemplary leadership, having handed over the reins to the incumbent Prince Adeyanju.
The current leadership has diligently embraced Nted’s principles, resulting in significant accomplishments within the Union and the broader maritime sector.
This official visit held particular significance as it coincided with Comrade Nted’s successful return from a routine medical check-up in a British hospital.
The top executives and administrative staff, present in full force, conveyed well wishes for his health, longevity, and extended greetings for the new year 2024.
During the visit, Comrade Nted, affectionately known as the “Son of God,” drew inspiration from holy scriptures, urging everyone to maintain a positive outlook in life and embrace forgiveness.
He praised Prince Adeyanju for his steadfast leadership as the President-General, expressing confidence in his ability to lead the Union to greater heights.
In response, comrade Adeyanju, accompanied by branch presidents and top executives, reciprocated the gratitude, acknowledging Comrade Nted’s digital union legacy and his efforts in fostering peace within the Union.
The present administration pledged to continue building upon the established leadership legacies for the overall well-being of the Union, with the hope that these legacies would endure as symbols of the Union’s progress.
