The Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has issued a stern warning to potential vandals of critical national assets and infrastructure, urging them to cease their activities or face the full force of the law. This directive comes in the wake of a recent security summit aimed at enhancing community safety and engagement.
The summit, held on Thursday, August 8, 2024, in Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area, was convened to address security concerns and foster dialogue among local stakeholders. The event was part of a broader initiative led by NSCDC Commandant General Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, who emphasized the importance of community involvement in maintaining national peace and security.

“We are calling on anyone contemplating vandalism of national assets, such as bridges and manholes, to reconsider their actions. The consequences will be severe for those caught engaging in such destructive acts,” warned Mr. Adedotun Keshinro, Lagos State Commandant of the NSCDC.
At the summit, Hon. George Adegeye of the House of Representatives, represented by Mr. Robert Obasi, underscored the collective responsibility required to ensure safety in the community. “A safer Amuwo is a shared responsibility. Everyone must be committed to the security and well-being of our community,” Obasi stated.

The event featured a paper presentation on the theme “A Safer Amuwo Odofin: Winning the Goal Together,” delivered by Barrister Segun Afolaranmi. The session included a panel discussion moderated by Deputy Superintendent of Corps Oluwaseun Abolurin, which explored collaborative strategies for improving local security.
“Dialogue, synergy, and cooperation are key to overcoming our security challenges,” said Assistant Commandant of Corps Ayodele Bankole, Area H Commander. He praised the community’s engagement and support, which he believes are crucial for the success of such initiatives.
The summit also saw contributions from various dignitaries and organizations, including Eng. Dr. Valentine Buraimoh, Executive Chairman of Amuwo Odofin, and representatives from various security and non-governmental organizations.
The Lagos State Commandant reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining peace and order through ongoing community engagement and collaboration with other security agencies.
