Governor Aiyedatiwa Inspects Flood-Affected Areas in Ondo, Promises Immediate Relief and Long-Term Solutions

The Governor of Ondo State Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, visited flood-affected areas in Ondo town on Sunday, following heavy rainfall that led to widespread flooding. Accompanied by the Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Niyi Oseni, and his Special Adviser on Environment, Olayemi Adeyemi, the governor assessed the damage and discussed intervention strategies.

During the inspection, Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed concern over the flood’s impact, particularly on vulnerable communities, and reassured residents that his administration is committed to providing immediate relief and long-term flood prevention measures. “We are deeply concerned about the challenges these floods have caused, and we are already working to ensure that affected areas receive immediate relief and long-term solutions,” the governor stated.

He also emphasized the importance of avoiding practices such as blocking drainage channels with waste, which exacerbates flooding issues.

The governor pledged to prioritize rehabilitation of flood-prone areas and accelerate the completion of ongoing water channelization projects aimed at reducing future flood risks.
