A gas tanker exploded on Saturday at Ologuro Bus Stop in the Sango-Tedo area of Lagos after a tipper truck rammed into it from behind, authorities said.

One adult male, identified as the tipper truck driver, died in the incident, while two adult females sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene by the Lagos State Ambulance Service.

The explosion triggered a fire that affected four roadside shops near a filling station opposite the crash site. Emergency responders said the deceased remained trapped in the vehicle, with recovery efforts ongoing.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, through its Sharks Response Team, worked with the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby buildings.

Authorities said the fire had been brought under control, while recovery operations were continuing as of the time of reporting. Further updates are expected.
