Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has nominated Chief Olayide Owolabi Adelami, former Deputy Clerk to the National Assembly, as deputy governor, just one month into his term. This decision followed the dissolution of the Ondo State Executive Council six hours prior.

Chief Adelami, a former 2020 APC governorship aspirant and native of Owo in the Northern Senatorial district, shares kinship with the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN.

Having retired from the National Assembly in April 2018, he now awaits ratification by the State House of Assembly.

The announcement was confirmed by Mr. Ebenezer Adeniyan, the Chief Press Secretary to the governor. Prior to the nomination, Governor Aiyedatiwa dissolved the State Executive Council, instructing members to hand over to Permanent Secretaries or senior administrative officers promptly.

In a brief statement issued in Akure, signed by Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, the Chief Press Secretary, the governor expressed gratitude to outgoing officials for their contributions to the state’s development.

The reshuffling also affected Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) and Special Assistants (SAs), who were relieved of their duties immediately.
