Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has dismissed speculations linking him to succeed Xavi at Barcelona.
The 41 year-old Spaniard said he’s upset over reports linking him with succeeding Xavi as Barcelona manager is “totally fake news”.
“Who, me? No. That is totally fake news,” said Arteta, whose Arsenal contract runs until the summer of 2025.
Xavi announced on Saturday that he would be stepping down from the role at the end of the season, stating that he needs to protect his mental health.
Arteta, who is a product of Barcelona’s youth academy, was also thinking of leaving his post with the Gunners, and new filtered he might be the right replacement.
The Gunners are third – five points behind leaders Liverpool – in the Premier League going into Tuesday’s game at Nottingham Forest.
