Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has called on the Nigerian Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) leadership to demonstrate transparency and accountability in their service to the public. During a courtesy visit by the NSITF leadership, including the Managing Director, Mr. Oluwaseun Faleye, and key members of the National Assembly’s Committee on Labour, Employment and Productivity, Sanwo-Olu emphasized the need for the Fund to be responsible and responsive.
“The Lagos State Government is willing to collaborate with the Nigerian Social Insurance Trust Fund to achieve its objectives. It is crucial that people benefit from the dividends of democracy for a better and more sustainable nation for future generations,” Governor Sanwo-Olu stated.

The NSITF’s Managing Director, Mr. Oluwaseun Faleye, highlighted the importance of Lagos State’s support, saying, “Lagos State’s acceptance of the Fund will send a strong signal to other states.” He noted that the ongoing two-day retreat, themed “Building a Stronger NSITF,” is geared toward strengthening stakeholder engagement.
Mr. Diket Plang, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Labour, Employment and Productivity, reaffirmed the National Assembly’s commitment to ensuring the NSITF fulfills its mandate. He praised Sanwo-Olu for his outstanding governance, stating, “All governors should come to Lagos to learn.”
Mr. Adegboyega Adefarati, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Labour, Employment and Productivity, also lauded Sanwo-Olu’s dedication to worker welfare, remarking, “Lagos is known to be paying more than the minimum wage to its workers even before the current approved minimum wage.”
